Artist Statement:
My recent paintings have myths, stories and iconographies from many sources mediating the sacred oneness, impermanence and connectedness of everything on our planet. Prior to 2000 my paintings primarily dealt with the discord of two diverse cultures coming into contact with one another; especially the conflicts between the Judeo-Christian ideology and Native American beliefs.
Throughout much of my work I have explored the concept of belief systems and how they affect their related environments. I find a common thread through the Native American and Taoist perception of the sacred in everything versus the more Judeo-Christian and Confucian idea of human supremacy. My paintings are my visual musings, but I like to think they will be interpreted by the viewer in his or her own unique way. I also hope that they enjoy the painting process, as it is an integral aspect of my work.
